Al-Maqdeshi: Armed forces are ready to act, and Yemenis are united against the Houthis.

Yemeni Military Ready to Act Against Houthi Militias

Military Advisor Affirms Readiness for Action

In a recent interview with BBC, Major General Mohammed Ali Al-Maqdeshi, the military advisor to the Presidential Leadership Council, confirmed that the Yemeni Armed Forces stand ready to liberate the country from Houthi militias. He stated that the forces await directives from political leadership to initiate operations.

Unity Among Yemenis Against Houthi Forces

Al-Maqdeshi emphasized the unity of Yemenis against the Houthis, highlighting their shared goal of eliminating the militia’s influence and restoring freedom to the nation. He noted that the armed forces are strategically positioned across various military fronts, prepared to act upon receiving orders.

International Navigation Threats Expose Houthi Intentions

The military advisor pointed out that the Houthi attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf have revealed their true objectives to the international community. He asserted that the Houthis operate under an Iranian framework, which raises concerns about regional stability.

Ongoing Ceasefire and International Intervention

Al-Maqdeshi clarified that the ceasefire announced in 2022 remains in effect. He remarked that international intervention through the Stockholm Agreement has hindered the complete liberation of Al-Hudaydah Governorate, despite the armed forces being on the verge of success in that area.

Impact of U.S. Airstrikes on Houthi Capabilities

The Major General acknowledged that U.S. airstrikes have significantly weakened Houthi capabilities. However, he stressed that airstrikes alone cannot achieve the desired outcomes without the involvement of ground forces.

Houthi Exploitation of the Palestinian Cause

In a related discussion, Al-Maqdeshi noted that the Houthi militias exploit the Palestinian issue to further their own agenda. He affirmed that all Yemenis share a deep concern for the Palestinian cause, recalling Yemen’s historical support for the Palestine Liberation Organization and its reception of Yasser Arafat prior to the country’s unification.

As the situation in Yemen continues to evolve, the readiness of the Yemeni Armed Forces to confront the Houthi threat remains a focal point. The unity among Yemenis and the international community’s awareness of the Houthis’ true intentions will play crucial roles in shaping the future of the nation.
