Al-Eryani reaffirms Yemen’s commitment to combating terrorism in all forms and safeguarding maritime routes and shipping lanes.

Yemen Reaffirms Commitment to Combat Terrorism

Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Speaks Out

The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism in the Yemeni government, Muammar Al-Eryani, has reiterated Yemen’s strong commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms. He emphasized the importance of effective partnerships and close coordination with the Saudi-led Coalition supporting legitimacy, as well as collaboration with the international community. This approach aims to ensure respect for international humanitarian law, protect civilians, and enhance security and stability at both national and regional levels.

State Institutions Must Lead Anti-Terror Efforts

Al-Eryani stated that efforts to combat terrorism should solely be managed through legitimate state institutions. He called for a clear legal and institutional framework that upholds the rule of law, safeguards citizens’ rights, and prevents chaos and the emergence of multiple power centers.

During a press statement at a special simulation exercise conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Unit in Mukalla, Hadramout, he noted that experiences have shown that any security efforts executed outside state authority only complicate the situation, expand violations, and undermine stability. He attributed recent security disturbances in certain areas to actions taken outside the legitimate framework of state institutions.

Commitment to Maritime Security

The minister reaffirmed the state’s commitment to its national, regional, and international responsibilities in protecting maritime corridors and international shipping routes. He highlighted their vital role in global trade and regional security. Continuous cooperation with the Coalition and international partners aims to safeguard maritime security, protect shared interests, and deter any threats to navigation freedom.

Efforts Against Arms Smuggling

Al-Eryani emphasized that the state will resolutely continue its joint efforts with the Coalition to combat arms smuggling to the Houthi militia. He pointed out that drying up their sources of armament and funding poses a direct threat to national, regional, and international security, prolongs conflict, and undermines peace prospects.

The Core of the Yemeni Crisis

Al-Eryani identified the core of the Yemeni crisis as the Houthi militia’s coup against the state and its legitimate institutions. This has led to systematic destruction of political, security, economic, and humanitarian conditions. He stressed that restoring the state and ending the coup represent a national priority that cannot be delayed. The government will continue its liberation project and restore its institutions, using peaceful means whenever possible and force when necessary, to preserve Yemen’s sovereignty, security, stability, and national unity.

Counter-Terrorism Unit Demonstrates Readiness

Regarding the special simulation exercise conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Unit, Al-Eryani praised the high level of readiness, efficiency, and discipline displayed. He noted the professionalism achieved by this specialized force, thanks to advanced training programs supported directly by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Gratitude for Saudi Support

Al-Eryani expressed his sincere gratitude and deep appreciation to Saudi Arabia for its ongoing support in building the capabilities of Yemeni state institutions, particularly security and military agencies.

This commitment to combating terrorism and enhancing security reflects Yemen’s determination to restore stability and protect its citizens.
