Call for Action Against Iranian Interference

Lieutenant General Sultan Al-Arada, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, has called on the international community to take responsibility regarding the ongoing destabilizing actions of the Iranian regime and its militias in Yemen. He emphasized that these actions threaten regional and global stability, as well as the freedom of navigation and economic interests worldwide.

Need for a Firm International Stance

During a virtual meeting with Zhao Cheng, the Chargé d’Affaires of the People’s Republic of China in Yemen, Al-Arada stressed the necessity for a strong international response. He urged global powers to pressure the Iranian regime to cease its destructive activities. Furthermore, he called for an end to the military escalation by the Houthi militia and other armed factions in the region, particularly their attacks in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb, which jeopardize international trade routes.

Escalating Threats from Houthi Militias

Al-Arada highlighted that the Houthi militias have not only targeted the Yemeni population and destroyed state institutions but have also committed severe violations against civilians. Their aggression extends to Saudi Arabia, where they have launched missile and drone attacks, supported by the Iranian regime and its regional proxies. This escalation poses a significant threat to both national and regional security.

China’s Role in Supporting International Efforts

The Presidential Council member acknowledged China’s vital role in supporting United Nations efforts and enforcing international legitimacy. He urged China to exert more pressure on Iran to halt its support for the Houthi militia. Such actions would contribute to regional security and ensure safe international navigation.

Al-Arada expressed hope for the continued positive role of the People’s Republic of China, given its status as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. In response, Zhao Cheng reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening friendship and cooperation with Yemen.
