On Thursday, Dr. Sha’if Mohsen Al-Zandani, the Prime Minister of Yemen, conducted an inspection visit to the Technical Industrial Institute in Al-Mualla, located in the temporary capital of Aden. The visit aimed to assess the educational and training processes, evaluate academic and professional performance, and identify the institute’s needs and requirements for program and specialization development.
During his visit, the Prime Minister praised the historical significance of the Technical Industrial Institute in Al-Mualla, which was established in 1951. He recognized it as one of Yemen’s oldest institutions for technical and industrial education, highlighting its prominent role in preparing and qualifying national cadres. He emphasized that this legacy, spanning over seven decades, represents a national value that should be preserved and built upon. He called for updates to training infrastructure, the qualification of educational staff, and the development of curricula and specializations. These improvements aim to enable the institute to regain its leading role in supplying the labor market with qualified technical and professional competencies.
Dr. Al-Zandani listened to explanations from the Dean of the Institute, Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Faraj, along with the administration and educational staff. They provided insights into the progress of studies in various departments and specializations, the available facilities and equipment, and the challenges facing the training process. They also discussed the necessary updates for workshops and laboratories, as well as curriculum development, to enhance the quality of outputs and directly link them to labor market requirements.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of making a qualitative leap in the status of technical and industrial education. He advocated for expanding enrollment opportunities, viewing it as a fundamental pathway for preparing qualified technicians and professionals. He noted that this would supply the production, services, and construction sectors with competencies capable of keeping pace with economic and technological transformations. Furthermore, he highlighted the need to create new job opportunities and reduce the skills gap in the labor market. He assured that the government would give special attention to technical education and vocational training, working in coordination with the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training and relevant entities to support and develop this sector. This initiative aims to enhance its ability to respond to development needs and labor market demands.
