The organization Equality for Rights and Freedoms has urged the Houthi militia to release Abdullah Mohammed Mas’ad Haleh, a 40-year-old teacher, who has faced arbitrary detention since April 7. Haleh was taken from his home in Dhamar and is currently held in a facility operated by the so-called security and intelligence agency.
The organization highlighted that Haleh’s abduction is part of a broader campaign targeting civilians and educational leaders in Dhamar. This campaign includes home raids, intimidation of families, and enforced disappearances. Such actions represent a blatant violation of national laws and international human rights agreements.
Equality emphasized that the ongoing detention of Haleh, along with hundreds of other detainees from the province, exacerbates the suffering of victims and their families. The organization described this situation as alarming and called for the unconditional release of Haleh and all other detainees.
In its concluding statement, the organization demanded that the Houthi militia cease its oppressive and terrorizing policies against civilians in areas under its control.
