Zverev nears top ranking as Djokovic drops out of the top ten.

### Zverev’s US Open Victory Alters ATP Rankings

German player Alexander Zverev’s recent triumph at the US Open has significantly impacted the ATP rankings. Notably, Serbian Novak Djokovic has fallen out of the top ten for the first time in over eight years.

### Sinner Remains at the Top; Zverev in Second Place

Italian Jannik Sinner maintained his position at number one despite missing the tournament. Zverev surged to second place, trailing Sinner by 1,810 points after securing his second Grand Slam title of the season. Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz held onto third place, even as he slipped following his exit in the quarterfinals.

### Notable Climbs in the Rankings

American Ben Shelton climbed to fourth place after reaching his first Grand Slam final. Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime dropped to fifth. Russian Daniil Medvedev advanced to sixth, while Italian Flavio Cobolli secured the seventh position.

### Tiafoe Returns; Djokovic Faces Historic Drop

American Frances Tiafoe re-entered the top ten, landing in eighth place. Australian Alex de Minaur and American Taylor Fritz occupied the ninth and tenth spots, respectively. Djokovic fell to twelfth place after an early exit in the first round of the US Open.

### Ongoing Battle for the Top Spot

Zverev has a genuine opportunity to claim the top ranking before the season concludes. Sinner must defend 3,550 points, while Zverev has only 1,080 points to protect. This scenario keeps the competition for the number one position open until the very end.
