The Under-17 National Team has landed in Amman, Jordan, set to compete in the eleventh edition of the West Asia Cup. The tournament kicks off next Monday and will run until September 11.
The youth team is gearing up to defend their title in a tournament held at Prince Mohammed Stadium in Zarqa and the Polo Stadium in Amman. They clinched the championship trophy in the previous edition last year in Salalah, Oman, and are looking to repeat their success.
The squad, comprising 23 players, is under the guidance of Coach Samer Fadl, who led the team to victory in last year’s championship. Their campaign begins next Monday with an opening match against Oman in Group 2, which also includes the Saudi team.
In preparation for the tournament, the youth team held two training camps in Loder, Abyan, and Al Mukalla, Hadramaut. They played six friendly matches against Hadramaut clubs, winning five and drawing one. These preparatory matches have set a solid foundation for the team as they aim to retain their championship title.
The arrival of the Under-17 National Team in Jordan marks a significant step in their journey to defend their title at the West Asia Cup. With a strong team led by Coach Samer Fadl and a successful pre-tournament preparation, the team is poised for another impressive performance in this year’s edition.
