Yemen wins a seat on the Executive Bureau of the General Assembly of the Arab Union of Constitutional Courts and Councils.

The Republic of Yemen, represented by its Supreme Court, has secured a position on the Executive Office of the General Assembly of the Arab Union of Constitutional Courts. This achievement followed a successful election during a meeting held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Yemeni delegation was led by Dr. Ali Al-Awash, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Key Decisions and Recommendations

The meeting brought together heads of supreme and constitutional courts from 16 Arab nations. Participants approved several resolutions and recommendations aimed at enhancing judicial work and planning for the upcoming years. Additionally, they prepared for the 12th Scientific Conference, scheduled to take place in Morocco. This conference will address significant research topics in the field of constitutional law.

Upcoming Meetings in Bahrain

The General Assembly of the Union also announced that the next meeting will occur in Bahrain next year. This decision reflects the commitment of member states to foster collaboration and dialogue among their judicial systems.

Importance of Judicial Gatherings

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Ali Al-Awash emphasized the importance of organizing such judicial forums. He noted that these gatherings allow distinguished judges from Arab supreme courts to exchange opinions and judicial experiences, ultimately enhancing their practical capabilities.

On the sidelines of the event, Dr. Al-Awash engaged in discussions with several heads of supreme and constitutional courts. The meeting also included participation from Judge Saleh Qasim, a member of the Constitutional Division of Yemen’s Supreme Court. His involvement underscores Yemen’s active role in regional judicial matters and its commitment to improving its judicial framework.
