Doha Hosts Historic Signing Ceremony

In a significant diplomatic move, Yemen and Qatar inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Doha on Wednesday, aimed at bolstering legal and judicial cooperation between the two nations. This agreement marks a pivotal moment during the official visit of Yemen’s Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, to the Qatari capital.

Key Signatories and Their Commitment

The MoU was signed on behalf of Yemen by the Minister of Education, Tariq Al Akbari, stepping in for the Minister of Justice, and on the Qatari side by the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Ibrahim Al Mahanadi. The agreement is a testament to the strong bilateral relations and shared commitment to enhancing legal, judicial, and training cooperation.

Objectives and Areas of Cooperation

The memorandum aims to expand the horizons of joint cooperation in various legal and judicial fields, including the exchange of expertise, information, and the organization of related scientific meetings and seminars. It specifically targets the enhancement of cooperation between the ministries of justice in both countries in exchanging experiences and best practices in legal professions, documentation, and various judicial services.

Expressions of Satisfaction and Future Prospects

Following the signing, Yemen’s Minister of Education expressed his delight over the agreement, viewing it as a culmination of mutual efforts to explore additional avenues for cooperation. Similarly, Qatar’s Minister of Justice reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting and strengthening bilateral relations in the legal and judicial domains, highlighting the strong ties between Qatar and Yemen across various sectors.

The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures, including the Deputy Ambassador of Yemen to Qatar, Mohammed Aboud, and the Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs at the Qatari Ministry of Justice, Sheikha Hind bint Falah Al Thani.

This agreement underscores the ongoing commitment of Yemen and Qatar to foster and deepen their relationship, paving the way for enhanced cooperation and shared progress in legal and judicial matters.
