Meeting Between Speaker of Parliament and Prime Minister Addresses National Issues

On Wednesday, Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani, the Speaker of the Parliament, met with Dr. Shaye’ Mohsen al-Zandani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The two leaders discussed the current political, economic, and social conditions in Yemen.

Government Reforms and Legislative Responsibilities

During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s ongoing reforms across various sectors. They also discussed the convening of Parliament, which is crucial for fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities. This includes supporting reform programs, reviewing public policies, and approving the national budget.

Furthermore, the conversation touched on the work of the Supreme Committee for Tenders and the necessary legislative changes required by the current situation. This includes both amending existing laws and enacting new legislation to complete the constitutional obligations related to the executive authority’s operations.

The Speaker praised the government’s performance and the Prime Minister’s efforts during these challenging times. Additionally, the Speaker appreciated the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Yemen across various sectors. He acknowledged the ongoing efforts to promote stability and development throughout the country. Recently, Saudi Arabia announced an urgent $150 million aid package for the electricity sector, reflecting its continued commitment to supporting Yemen and its people in various circumstances.
