Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, the Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, sent a congratulatory message today to Mohammed Ahmed Al-Yamahi following his election as President of the Arab Parliament. Al-Barakani expressed pride in the democratic process that took place during the Arab Parliament meeting held at the Arab League headquarters.

In his message, Al-Barakani stated, “I followed today’s Arab Parliament meeting, which resulted in your election as its President. This is a significant achievement for both you and the democratic practices of this institution.” He extended congratulations on behalf of himself, the parliamentary leadership, and all council members for the trust bestowed upon Al-Yamahi, who succeeds Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Assoumi. Al-Assoumi previously led the council through challenging times, demonstrating remarkable leadership skills to navigate obstacles and maintain the unity of the Arab Parliament.

Confidence in Leadership Amid Regional Challenges

Al-Barakani emphasized his confidence in Al-Yamahi’s political and parliamentary experience. He also commended the UAE and Saudi Arabia for their support during Yemen’s struggles against the Houthi militia. Their skilled and courageous efforts helped halt a crisis that threatened to engulf Yemen. Al-Barakani noted the coalition’s success in pushing back against the Houthi advance, restoring control over significant areas of Yemen.
