Prime Minister Reviews Operations at Yemen's Oil and Gas Corporation

On Monday, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak visited the Yemen General Corporation for Oil and Gas in the temporary capital, Aden. During his visit, he assessed the corporation’s performance and discussed developmental aspects aimed at enhancing its operations and the management of its affiliated companies.

Engaging with Leadership and Staff

The Prime Minister toured several departments within the corporation. He engaged in discussions with its leadership and staff about the current workflow. He urged them to intensify their efforts during this critical phase, emphasizing the corporation’s vital role in securing the local market’s needs for petroleum products and domestic gas.

Insights from Key Officials

Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak listened to insights from Minister of Oil and Minerals Dr. Saeed Al-Shamasi and the corporation’s General Director, Mohammed Thabet. They outlined efforts to activate the corporation’s operations, which include refining and supplying high-quality petroleum and gas products to the local market at lower costs. Additionally, they discussed the production, marketing, and export of local crude oil, as well as creating an investment-friendly environment for global companies involved in oil and gas exploration.

Emphasizing the Corporation’s Responsibilities

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the Yemen General Corporation for Oil and Gas fulfilling its responsibilities effectively. He highlighted the corporation’s crucial role in overseeing and ensuring the availability of petroleum products and domestic gas across all provinces. He directed the corporation to enhance its role and address the challenges that have affected the operations of oil and gas companies. Furthermore, he called for the implementation of government reforms in the oil and gas sector, with a focus on transparency and governance.

Government Support for Overcoming Challenges

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to overcoming obstacles that hinder the corporation’s operations. He emphasized the need for the corporation to establish policies for the development of oil and gas resources, as well as investment, financial, and human resource plans for its affiliated institutions. He also pointed out the importance of restoring the corporation’s role in evaluating projects, contracts, and agreements with external parties, assessing the technical and financial performance of its subsidiaries, and approving projects related to the establishment of industrial facilities for oil and gas operations.
