The Prime Minister visits an oil company, emphasizing its role in meeting local market needs across all provinces.

Prime Minister's Visit to Yemen Oil Company for Fuel Supply Stability

On Monday, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak visited the General Administration of the Yemen Oil Company in the temporary capital, Aden. His visit aimed to assess the company’s operations and the extraordinary efforts required to secure fuel supplies for all regions of Yemen.

Assessing Fuel Supply Plans

During the visit, Prime Minister bin Mubarak met with leaders from the Ministry of Oil and Minerals, as well as company officials. They discussed plans to meet local market demands for petroleum products and domestic gas. This discussion came in light of the recent U.S. decision to prohibit the Houthi militia from importing petroleum and gas products, following its designation as a foreign terrorist organization. The Prime Minister urged officials to double their efforts to stabilize fuel supplies across all provinces, whether through local production or imports.

Coordination and Governance Improvements

The Prime Minister also received updates on the coordination efforts with the company’s branches in various provinces. He emphasized the importance of implementing government directives aimed at enhancing transparency and governance within the company. Additionally, he highlighted the need for financial and administrative reforms.

Meeting with Company Leadership

Later, the Prime Minister held a meeting with the company’s leadership, attended by the Ministers of Oil and Minerals, Dr. Saeed Al-Shamasi, and Finance, Salem bin Brik. They reviewed the company’s performance over the past period, discussed future development plans, and examined ongoing reforms.

Enhancing Storage Capacity and Distribution

The meeting focused on strategies to increase the storage capacity of the company’s facilities and branches. This enhancement aligns with the rising local consumption and aims to establish a sufficient strategic reserve. The officials also discussed transportation and distribution mechanisms, emphasizing the need to provide direct services to citizens through the expansion of model stations.

Prioritizing Fuel Supply Stability

Prime Minister bin Mubarak stressed that ensuring stable fuel supplies across various provinces represents a national priority. He underscored the necessity of enhancing governance and transparency in the sector to guarantee efficient supply and fair fuel prices that align with citizens’ living conditions.

Strengthening the Role of Oil Companies

The Prime Minister acknowledged the pivotal role of the Yemen Oil Company and Aden Refineries in securing the country’s petroleum needs. He pointed out the importance of improving the company’s marketing performance and creating an attractive investment environment to bolster its leadership role as a government entity supporting the national economy.

Developing a Comprehensive Strategy

The Prime Minister called for the development of a comprehensive strategy to ensure sustainable oil supplies while improving distribution efficiency. He emphasized the need to address any imbalances that could affect supply stability. Furthermore, he reiterated the importance of the company’s commitment to transparency and governance standards to enhance public and investor confidence in this vital sector.

Commitment to National Economic Support

In response, the Minister of Oil and Minerals reaffirmed the ministry’s and the oil company’s commitment to implementing government directives. He highlighted ongoing efforts to stabilize fuel supplies across provinces and to execute investment projects that would strengthen the company’s role and contribute to supporting the national economy.

Meeting Attendees

The meeting included several key figures, such as the Prime Minister’s advisor, Ambassador Mujib Othman, the Executive Director of the Prime Minister’s Technical Team, Jamal bin Ghanem, the General Director of the Yemen Oil and Gas Corporation, Mohammed Thabet, and the Executive Director of the Yemen Oil Company, Tarek Mansour, along with various department directors from the company.
