Government Prioritizes Modern Communication Infrastructure in Aden

A Call for Urgent Action

Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Brek has directed the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, along with its affiliated institutions, to urgently implement plans aimed at establishing a modern communication and internet system in the temporary capital of Aden and other liberated provinces. This initiative focuses on enhancing the infrastructure of this vital sector and fostering investment partnerships with both local and international private sectors.

Emphasizing Institutional Development

During a meeting held in Aden on Sunday, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of improving the institutional performance of the Ministry of Communications and its associated entities. He highlighted the need for these organizations to align with the government’s objectives of modernizing communication and internet services. The goal is to meet the expectations of citizens and both public and private sectors. He pointed out the significance of enhancing service efficiency, expanding coverage, and boosting competitiveness and quality.

Reviewing Current Projects and Challenges

The meeting reviewed reports from the Ministry of Communications, the General Authority for Telecommunications, and the companies "Telemen" and "Aden Net." These reports detailed ongoing and completed projects in infrastructure and institutional development, as well as the challenges faced and proposed solutions. Additionally, the discussions included plans to encourage investment and outlined future goals and visions aimed at advancing the sector and diversifying the services offered. This comprehensive vision seeks to establish a modern and sustainable telecommunications sector.

Government Support and Commitment

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s full support for the efforts of the Ministry of Communications and its affiliated institutions and companies. He emphasized the importance of overcoming obstacles that hinder their operations and activating their crucial role in driving development and achieving digital transformation.

A Call for Collaborative Efforts

"The time is right to work in all directions to achieve tangible results in the telecommunications sector," he stated. He urged for the integration of efforts, activation of available resources, and utilization of technical and human capabilities to keep pace with rapid developments in this vital field.

Establishing a Clear Action Plan

Furthermore, the Prime Minister instructed the creation of a detailed action matrix that outlines urgent intervention priorities to enhance service levels. This plan will also focus on providing an attractive regulatory and legislative environment for investment, while adhering to principles of transparency and efficiency at all stages of work.

This initiative marks a significant step toward modernizing communication infrastructure in Yemen, aiming to improve connectivity and service quality for all citizens.
