Today, Dr. Shaya Mohsen Al-Zandani, Yemen’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the signing ceremony for a significant agreement aimed at enhancing electricity generation across various Yemeni provinces. The agreement, valued at $150 million, comes from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen.

Details of the Agreement

The agreement, signed by Minister of Electricity and Energy Engineer Adnan Al-Kaf and Ambassador Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber, the program’s general supervisor, will supply diesel and mazout to over 70 electricity generation stations. This initiative aims to stabilize electricity services and ensure their continuous operation, thereby supporting vital sectors that rely on electrical energy.

Collaboration with PetroMasila

Additionally, a separate agreement was established between the Yemeni Oil Company, PetroMasila, the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, and the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen. This collaboration aims to enhance PetroMasila’s capabilities as a government entity, improving its efficiency and service continuity.

Governance and Oversight

This support follows a comprehensive governance framework designed to ensure that aid reaches its intended beneficiaries. A high-level committee, linked to the Prime Minister, will oversee the distribution of petroleum derivatives to electricity stations based on their specific needs.
