The General Directorate of Civil Aviation in Kuwait has submitted a second protest letter to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This action responds to repeated Iranian attacks targeting Kuwaiti airspace and Kuwait International Airport. Kuwait aims to protect its air security and ensure the safety of its vital facilities.
The Kuwaiti authority urged ICAO to implement immediate and decisive measures to safeguard civilian airspace and facilities. The organization must prevent further violations that threaten aviation safety. The authority emphasized the need for effective steps to ensure the security of civil aviation in the region.
The latest attack occurred just 48 hours after the reopening of Terminal 1, which had undergone repairs following an initial assault on February 28. These incidents highlight the urgent need for international action to guarantee the safety of civil aviation.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry confirmed that Iranian attacks once again targeted vital civilian infrastructure, including Kuwait International Airport. These assaults resulted in one fatality and several injuries, along with damage to diplomatic facilities.
In related developments, the Civil Aviation Authority announced last week the activation of an emergency plan at Kuwait International Airport. This decision followed an attack involving drones and missiles on Terminal 1. The assault caused significant damage to various airport facilities and resulted in injuries. Specialized teams have initiated rapid response procedures.
