Sana’a, Yemen – Today, Dr. Afrah Al-Zuba, Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, met with Catherine Colonna, the French Ambassador to Yemen. The two officials explored avenues for enhancing mutual cooperation between Yemen and France.
During their meeting, Al-Zuba and Colonna reviewed the outcomes of their initial discussions. They assessed the progress on French humanitarian and developmental projects in Yemen. The conversation highlighted the Yemeni government’s priorities in health, education, child protection, and water and sanitation.
The officials also discussed opportunities to broaden their cooperation into new areas. These include education, institutional capacity building, and climate financing. They emphasized the importance of strengthening local organizations’ roles in project implementation to ensure sustainability and enhance national capacities.
Minister Al-Zuba stressed the need for project alignment with government programs. She highlighted the importance of geographical distribution to reach the most vulnerable areas. Al-Zuba praised France’s ongoing support for Yemen in humanitarian, developmental, and cultural sectors.
In response, Ambassador Colonna reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting Yemen and deepening the partnership with the new government.
This meeting marks a significant step in fostering international collaboration aimed at addressing Yemen’s pressing needs.
