Government Report Reveals Surge in Displaced Persons

A recent official government report has revealed that the number of displaced individuals due to the military escalation by the Houthi militia has exceeded 95,000 since the beginning of September.

The Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Camps reported that the registered number of displaced families in six liberated governorates (Taiz, Lahij, Al Hudaydah, Aden, Abyan, and Shabwa) reached 13,980 families, comprising approximately 95,324 individuals as of September 13.

Taiz Leads in Hosting Displaced Families

According to the report:

• Taiz: 7,782 families (54,643 individuals)
• Lahij: 2,715 families
• Al Hudaydah: 1,471 families
• Aden: 1,180 families
• Additionally, hundreds of families are in Abyan and Shabwa

Severe Humanitarian Conditions

The Executive Unit confirmed that thousands of families have been forced to flee suddenly, leaving their homes, possessions, and livelihoods behind. They currently live in dire conditions lacking:

• Shelter
• Food
• Safe drinking water
• Healthcare
• Protection

Moreover, hundreds of families rely on host communities that already face significant economic and living pressures.

Urgent Humanitarian Appeal

The Executive Unit has issued an urgent humanitarian call to United Nations agencies, international and local organizations, and donor entities, urging them to:

• Take immediate field action
• Provide life-saving relief and financial assistance
• Conduct urgent needs assessments
• Focus on the most vulnerable groups: children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities
