The National Coalition of Political Parties has strongly condemned the ongoing actions of the Houthi militia, labeling it as a military tool employed by the Iranian regime in Yemen to further its regional agenda. These actions pose a significant threat to international maritime security and reflect Iran’s broader strategy to destabilize the region and undermine both regional and global stability.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the coalition emphasized that these practices aim to escalate tensions in the region. Yemenis alone bear the consequences of these reckless actions, impacting their security, economy, and future. Meanwhile, Houthi leaders remain sheltered in mountain caves, evading accountability for their actions.
The coalition reiterated its complete rejection and condemnation of this aggression, which constitutes a blatant violation of international law and a direct threat to regional security. The ongoing escalation reveals that the Houthi militia does not believe in peace or coexistence. Instead, they pursue a purely Iranian agenda, disconnected from the interests of Yemen and its people.
The coalition denounced repeated Houthi attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea, including an Indian ship that sank off the coast of Al Hudaydah. Such actions pose a serious threat to international navigation and the safety of global trade routes, endangering the lives of sailors and maritime workers. In this context, the coalition expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Yemeni Coast Guard and Navy in conducting rescue operations and providing humanitarian assistance to affected crews.
The coalition stated, “This recurring behavior confirms that the Houthi militia’s decisions are no longer independent. They have become part of a regional system managed by Iran, which uses Yemeni territory and Red Sea security as leverage to serve its strategic interests.” Consequently, the Yemeni people continue to pay the highest price for this subjugation, facing ongoing war, deepening economic and humanitarian crises, and attacks on vessels carrying essential goods, exacerbating the suffering of millions and undermining recovery efforts.
The National Coalition called on the international community to recognize these attacks as organized maritime terrorism and to take decisive action against Houthi leaders and their Iranian backers. The coalition criticized the ineffective containment policies that have failed to deter this hostile behavior.
In conclusion, the National Coalition emphasized that restoring the Yemeni state and its legitimate institutions’ control over all territories is the true pathway to ending the coup and liberating Yemen from Iranian influence. This restoration is crucial for safeguarding international maritime security and enhancing regional and global stability. The coalition urged the international community to provide necessary political, economic, and military support to the legitimate authorities, as they are the only guarantors of restoring the state and achieving lasting peace in Yemen and the region.
