Minister’s Statement on Houthi Fabrications
Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, criticized the Houthi militia’s recent claims of a so-called “security achievement.” He described these assertions as part of the militia’s ongoing strategy to fabricate narratives, coerce confessions, and exploit innocent citizens for political and security objectives.
Historical Context of Houthi Deception
Al-Eryani highlighted that these tactics remind him of the militia’s actions following the death of Saleh Al-Sammad. The Houthi group created a false narrative that led to the unjust execution of ten individuals from Al-Tahama, marking one of the most heinous crimes that exposed the militia’s deceit and aggression against innocent people.
Internal Struggles Within the Militia
The minister pointed out that the latest performance by Ali Hussein Al-Houthi, labeled as a “security achievement,” reflects internal power struggles within the militia. This attempt aims to promote a fabricated success and wrest control of the security file from the so-called “Security and Intelligence Agency,” led by Abdul Hakim Al-Khiywani. This comes amid escalating mutual accusations among militia leaders regarding significant breaches within their ranks.
Covering Up Security Failures
Al-Eryani noted that the fabricated narrative also seeks to obscure the unprecedented security vulnerabilities the militia faces. It attempts to boost the morale of its demoralized members following a series of precise strikes targeting their positions and leaders in the capital, Sana’a, and other controlled areas. These strikes have revealed extensive infiltration even at high levels within the Houthi hierarchy.
Weakness of Houthi Confessions
The confessions broadcasted by the militia, despite their grandiose titles, lack substance and are riddled with contradictions. It is evident that the detainees received scripted phrases to construct a pre-determined narrative devoid of any factual details about individuals, missions, objectives, or outcomes. This indicates that the video’s purpose is purely for propaganda.
Impact on Civilians and Justification for Repression
Al-Eryani emphasized that the militia aims to instill fear among citizens in their controlled areas. They use these lies to justify daily campaigns of repression, torture, and arrests under the pretext of “espionage with foreign entities.” This strategy seeks to tighten their security grip amid rising public discontent due to their destructive policies and deteriorating living conditions.
Conclusion: A Sign of Internal Turmoil
In conclusion, Al-Eryani asserted that the Houthi militia’s current actions represent a feeble display of their internal confusion. This behavior indicates their inability to confront the truth, resorting instead to lies and fabricated confessions. Their desperate attempts to project an image of strength and control come at a time when their foundations are crumbling from within.
