On Sunday, Minister of Electricity and Energy Adnan Al-Kaf and State Minister, Governor of Aden Abdulrahman Sheikh, inspected the operations at electricity generation stations in the districts of Brega and Mansoura in the temporary capital, Aden.
During their visit, Al-Kaf and Sheikh reviewed the main difficulties and challenges facing the technical and engineering teams. They discussed the necessary requirements to enhance operational efficiency and improve service levels. Additionally, they examined the ongoing work to complete the emergency power station with a capacity of 100 megawatts, supported by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This project aims to boost generation capacity and support the electricity system in Aden.
Al-Kaf and Sheikh stressed the importance of intensifying efforts and fostering a spirit of teamwork. They called for raising readiness levels and addressing technical and operational challenges. Continuous monitoring of maintenance and operational activities is essential to achieve the highest possible stability in electricity service, given the available resources and capabilities.
Furthermore, Minister Al-Kaf and Governor Sheikh visited the site of the displaced persons camp established in the Al-Firdaws area west of Aden. This camp aims to accommodate families fleeing from the violence and escalation caused by the Houthi militia in the governorates of Taiz and Al-Hudaydah.
During the visit, Al-Kaf and Sheikh listened to a briefing from the Director of the Executive Unit for Managing Displaced Persons Camps in Aden, Mohammed Al-Sufi. He provided an update on the progress in setting up tents and preparing the site, as well as the efforts to finalize the camp and provide essential requirements for the incoming displaced families.
Both officials emphasized the need to expedite the completion of the camp preparations and maintain ongoing coordination with humanitarian and relief organizations. This coordination aims to provide shelter and food supplies, along with completing the basic facilities and services to ensure suitable and safe conditions for the displaced families.
Governor Sheikh affirmed that the displaced families, forced to flee due to the actions and escalation of the Houthi militia, are welcomed in Aden. He noted that the local authority will spare no effort in providing the necessary support and assistance, coordinating with relevant entities and humanitarian organizations to meet their basic needs.
