In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Salem Al-Saqtri, engaged with a delegation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The delegation, led by FAO’s Resident Representative in Yemen, Hussein Jadin, focused on the progress of agricultural and fisheries projects implemented in collaboration with the ministry.
During the discussions, both parties highlighted the key challenges facing the implementation of these projects. They explored strategies to improve joint coordination mechanisms, ensuring that they achieve their outlined goals. These efforts aim to bolster food security and enhance the livelihoods of farmers and fishermen across various provinces.
Minister Al-Saqtri praised the FAO’s pivotal role in supporting the agriculture, irrigation, and fisheries sectors. He expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the FAO Resident Representative during his tenure in Yemen from 2019 to 2025. Under his leadership, the collaboration between the FAO and the ministry expanded significantly.
In response, Hussein Jadin commended the cooperative spirit between the ministry’s leadership and the FAO. This partnership has significantly contributed to the success of numerous funded programs and projects across different provinces.
This meeting underscores the commitment of both the Yemeni government and the FAO to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure sustainable livelihoods for communities reliant on agriculture and fisheries.
