The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the Israeli authorities for announcing tenders to build thousands of new settlement units in Jerusalem and its surrounding areas, as well as in the Ariel settlement located in the central West Bank. This action represents a serious escalation in Israel’s annexation and settlement expansion policies.
In an official statement, the ministry emphasized that the settlement construction in the E1 area aims to undermine the possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state. It threatens to disrupt the geographical and demographic unity of Palestine by effectively isolating areas of the West Bank.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry highlighted that these tenders extend the ongoing crimes of extermination, displacement, and annexation. They reflect the recent statements made by the Israeli Prime Minister regarding what he termed “Greater Israel.” The ministry has called for genuine international intervention and the imposition of sanctions on the Israeli occupation to compel it to halt its plans and adhere to the international consensus on resolving the Palestinian issue.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry’s condemnation underscores the urgent need for global attention and action regarding the ongoing settlement expansions. The situation remains critical, and the international community must respond to uphold the rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people.
