The Arab Parliament has reiterated its support for the Presidential Leadership Council, led by President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi. This endorsement highlights the Council’s efforts to manage the transitional phase, unify the national front, and achieve security and stability in Yemen. The Parliament also expressed its unwavering commitment to Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, firmly rejecting any attempts to undermine the country’s stability or fragment its national fabric.
During its fifth session held today at the Arab League headquarters, members of the Arab Parliament, including Alawi Al-Basha Bin Zaba, Insaf Mayo, and Abdul Wahab Maawda, emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis. This solution should adhere to three key references: the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216. These frameworks aim to preserve Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and independence.
The Arab Parliament welcomed the appointment of Salem Saleh Bin Brek as the new Prime Minister, wishing him success in fulfilling his national and constitutional duties.
The Parliament commended the ongoing efforts of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. It recognized their communications with various Yemeni factions to revive the political process. The Parliament urged the Houthi militias to engage constructively in international and UN-led efforts to end the war and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
The Arab Parliament strongly condemned the continued foreign interference in Yemeni affairs, including the smuggling of weapons and military experts to the Houthi militias. Such actions violate Security Council Resolutions 2216 and 2624. The Parliament reaffirmed its support for all efforts aimed at achieving comprehensive peace in Yemen and the broader region.
The Parliament praised the efforts of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the assistance provided by the Council’s Coordination Office, along with all Gulf countries supporting the Yemeni people. It highlighted the developmental projects implemented by the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction in Yemen, which includes 263 projects across seven vital sectors, in addition to budget support, salaries, and food security initiatives.
The Arab Parliament acknowledged the Saudi project for mine clearance, known as "Masam," which has successfully cleared over 66.8 million square meters of Yemeni land. This initiative has removed 493,256 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices, which the Houthi militias had indiscriminately planted, resulting in numerous civilian casualties.
The Arab Parliament’s statements reflect a strong commitment to supporting Yemen’s stability and development, emphasizing the importance of unity and peace in the region.
