Meeting Focuses on Fishing Sector Challenges in Hadhramaut

Mekla, Hadhramaut – Today, Salim Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadhramaut, met with Engineer Yassalam Yablghoum, the head of the General Authority for Fisheries in the Arabian Sea, to discuss pressing issues within the fishing sector. The meeting took place in the city of Mukalla and centered on the conditions of Al-Shahr Port and the idle boats docked there.

Addressing Port Issues

During the meeting, participants reviewed the challenges related to the boats that remain inactive at the port. They explored effective strategies to resolve these issues and improve operations within the port. The goal is to facilitate the movement of fishermen and ensure the safety of maritime activities. The governor emphasized the importance of coordination with the Coast Guard and relevant authorities to address these challenges and implement suitable solutions.

Report on Fisheries Activities

Governor Al-Khanbashi listened to a report from the head of the General Authority for Fisheries in Hadhramaut, which outlined the agency’s activities and its role in regulating the fishing sector. The report highlighted ongoing efforts to preserve and develop fishery resources, as well as to organize the work of fishermen. This sector is vital, providing a significant source of income for thousands of families in the region.

The governor reaffirmed the local authority’s commitment to supporting the fishing sector and alleviating the difficulties faced by fishermen.
