Today, Major General Ibrahim Ali Haidan, Yemen’s Minister of Interior, visited Qatar to learn about the country’s passport management and related travel document services. This visit underscores Yemen’s commitment to enhancing its own passport services through international cooperation.
During his visit to the General Directorate of Passports in Qatar, Minister Haidan received a detailed briefing from Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al-Ateeq, the Director General of Passports. Al-Ateeq outlined the procedures for issuing and renewing passports, highlighting the modern technologies employed to streamline passport and visa services. These insights could prove invaluable for Yemen as it seeks to modernize its own systems.
Minister Haidan also discussed potential future collaborations aimed at exchanging information and expertise. This dialogue focused on training and technical development, which are essential for improving the capabilities of Yemen’s passport services. Such partnerships could facilitate knowledge transfer and enhance operational efficiency.
In a related activity, Minister Haidan visited the headquarters of the National Exercise 2024 at the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya). He listened to an overview from Major Youssef Ateeq Al-Hamad, the exercise director. The upcoming exercise, scheduled for November 10-13, 2024, aims to integrate roles and responsibilities to ensure community safety and security. It will also enhance the readiness of governmental, security, and military sectors in Qatar.
Minister Haidan was accompanied by several dignitaries during his visit, including Yemen’s Ambassador to Qatar, Rajeh Badi, the Head of Civil Defense, Major General Mohammed Nasser Al-Shabaan, the Deputy Director of the Immigration and Passports Authority, Major Abdul Jabbar Salem, and the Deputy Director of the Minister’s Office, Major Saleh Basmeer.
This visit signifies a proactive approach by Yemen’s Ministry of Interior to learn from successful international practices, ultimately aiming to improve national security and administrative efficiency.
