Dr. Qassem Baheeb, the Yemeni Minister of Public Health and Population, met today in Amman, Jordan, with his Jordanian counterpart, Dr. Firas Al-Hawari. The two ministers discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the health sector.
During the meeting, Minister Baheeb expressed gratitude to the Jordanian government for its significant support through the health cooperation protocol between the two nations. This protocol allows approximately 200 Yemeni doctors to participate in Arab and Jordanian fellowship programs. Additionally, Jordan provides medical treatment grants to Yemen’s Ministry of Health, further strengthening their partnership.
The discussions also addressed new health regulations for travelers from Yemen to Jordan, specifically the requirement for polio vaccinations. The ministers explored additional avenues for health cooperation that would benefit both countries. This meeting coincided with Minister Baheeb’s participation in the First Arab Conference on the Role of Migrant Health Professionals in Supporting Health Systems in Arab Countries, organized by the Arab League and the Arab Council for Health Specializations in Jordan.
The meeting included Dr. Omar Zain Al-Saqaf, President of the Supreme Medical Council, and Dr. Muslih Al-Tuwali, Head of the Technical Office at the Ministry of Health.
This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of both Yemen and Jordan to enhance healthcare services and improve health outcomes for their populations.
