Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Dr. Qassem Baheeb, Yemen’s Minister of Public Health and Population, met with several health officials in Jilin Province, China, to explore ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchange expertise. The discussions also included the potential for organizing training programs for Yemeni healthcare professionals at advanced medical institutions in the province.

This meeting took place during an official visit by a delegation from Yemen’s Ministry of Health to China. Minister Baheeb emphasized the longstanding relationship between Yemen and China, which has spanned several decades. He praised China’s exceptional support for Yemen, particularly in the healthcare sector.

Proposing Hospital Partnerships

Minister Baheeb proposed establishing partnerships between several Yemeni hospitals and their counterparts in Jilin. This collaboration aims to improve medical services and facilitate the exchange of knowledge. Additionally, he suggested introducing elements of traditional Chinese medicine into Yemeni hospitals to leverage China’s rich medical heritage.

Commitment from Jilin Health Officials

Health officials in Jilin, including the Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Center of the National Health Commission, expressed their commitment to developing cooperative relations. They highlighted key activities in the province’s industrial and agricultural sectors, as well as programs for sending training and medical missions.

Exploring Medical Advancements

During the visit, Minister Baheeb and his accompanying delegation reviewed Jilin’s efforts in advancing pharmaceutical industries and medical equipment. They also examined the support for research and the application of modern and traditional medical practices, which enhance the efficiency of healthcare services.

Visit to the National Cancer Center

The delegation toured the National Cancer Center in Jilin, where they received detailed explanations about the medical capabilities and modern equipment used for diagnosing and treating cancer. They also learned about research programs and training initiatives. Minister Baheeb commended the significant progress in Jilin’s healthcare sector and stressed the importance of utilizing this experience to improve health services in Yemen.
