TAIZ, YEMEN – On a recent visit to the Taiz military command, Governor and Head of the Security Committee, Nabil Shamsan, assessed the current military situation and developments across various fronts in the province. His visit comes in response to the escalating threats posed by Houthi militias, which are reportedly backed by the Iranian regime.
During a meeting at the military command, attended by key military leaders including Major General Khaled Fadhel, the commander of the Taiz axis, and Major General Abdulaziz Al-Majidi, the chief of staff, Shamsan emphasized the need to enhance combat readiness and vigilance. He urged military units to coordinate effectively to counter the Houthi attempts to reinforce their positions along the front lines. The governor highlighted the militias’ strategy to execute infiltration operations aimed at achieving psychological gains, despite facing widespread rejection of their sectarian agenda.
Shamsan pointed out the ongoing escalation by the Houthis, which includes targeting residential areas with shelling and sniper fire, resulting in civilian casualties. He praised the bravery of the army and resistance fighters, who have shown remarkable resilience in thwarting the militias’ offensive attempts.
The governor noted a significant increase in popular and tribal rejection of the Houthis across various provinces. This growing awareness among Yemenis about the destructive nature of the militia’s agenda reflects the humanitarian, economic, and social suffering they have caused. Shamsan stated that this national solidarity serves as a crucial foundation for supporting the armed forces, restoring state institutions, and ending the coup. He called for unity among the people to stand behind the army until all territories under militia control are liberated.
During the meeting, Shamsan received updates from the military command regarding the current military conditions and the combat readiness of the national army’s units. He confirmed that the army is fully prepared to confront any hostile actions and that all units possess the necessary readiness to thwart Houthi plans and protect the province and its citizens.
Shamsan assured that the military command maintains continuous coordination with the Ministry of Defense, the Fourth Military Region, and the General Staff. This collaboration aims to unify efforts, enhance combat readiness, and improve operational and logistical support for the fronts. The governor reiterated the commitment to executing military plans designed to counter Houthi attacks and prevent any attempts at infiltration or escalation across various combat zones.
In summary, the governor’s visit underscores the urgent need for heightened military preparedness and national unity in the face of ongoing threats from Houthi militias. The commitment to protecting civilians and restoring stability in Taiz remains a top priority for local authorities and military leaders.
