Dr. Ali Majour, Yemen’s Ambassador to Switzerland, affirmed that the goals of the September 26 and October 14 revolutions remain deeply rooted in the hearts of the Yemeni people. He emphasized these revolutions embody the people’s rightful quest for freedom, justice, equal citizenship, the rule of law, and the establishment of a unified national state.
During a speech at a cultural and commemorative event organized by the Yemeni community in Zurich, Switzerland, Ambassador Majour stated, “The September 26 revolution marked the beginning of a new phase in modern Yemeni history. It opened Yemen to its Arab and international surroundings and laid the groundwork for building state institutions, expanding education, healthcare, administration, and public service.”
Majour added that the September revolution dismantled the Imamate rule and paved the way for the establishment of the republic and liberation in northern Yemen. This effort aligned with the October 14 revolution in the south, uniting their goals and destinies towards the creation of a modern Yemeni state.
The ambassador noted that commemorating national occasions abroad reflects the Yemeni community’s commitment to their identity and national belonging. He praised the role of the Yemeni community in Switzerland for representing their homeland and enhancing its presence within Swiss society. He assured that the embassy remains dedicated to engaging with community members and providing necessary consular services.
Feisal Al-Qeifi, the president of the Yemeni community in Switzerland, emphasized the importance of instilling the values of the September and October revolutions in younger generations. He highlighted the need to reinforce principles of equal citizenship, the rule of law, and to reject sectarianism, regionalism, and tyranny.
Maqbool Al-Rifai, the Secretary-General of the Global Union of Yemeni Communities, affirmed that Yemeni communities worldwide stand united in their commitment to national constants and republican achievements.
The event featured speeches, artistic performances, and poetry readings. Attendees watched a documentary film showcasing the struggles of the September 26 and October 14 revolutions and the sacrifices of martyrs. The program also included musical and theatrical performances by children from the community, who wore traditional Yemeni attire.
