Yemeni Foreign Minister Meets Norwegian Envoy to Discuss Bilateral Relations

In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Dr. Shai Al-Zindani, Yemen’s Foreign Minister, welcomed Heidi Johansen, the Norwegian Special Envoy to Yemen. This encounter underscored the strong diplomatic ties between Yemen and Norway, focusing on critical humanitarian initiatives and ongoing peace efforts in the region.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

During their discussions, Al-Zindani and Johansen explored the bilateral relations between Yemen and Norway. They specifically highlighted Norway’s humanitarian interventions and projects aimed at supporting Yemen, particularly its backing of the National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security. This plan reflects a commitment to empowering women and fostering inclusive peace in Yemen.

The two officials also reviewed the latest developments in Yemen and the broader region. They discussed regional and international efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in Yemen, emphasizing the importance of collaborative action to address the ongoing challenges facing the nation.

Appreciation for Norwegian Support

Al-Zindani expressed gratitude for the humanitarian and relief assistance provided by the Norwegian government. He acknowledged Norway’s vital role in supporting Yemen during these challenging times, reinforcing the importance of international partnerships in humanitarian crises.

The meeting also included key officials from the Yemeni government. Ambassador Abdul Qadir Hadi, Head of the Minister’s Office, and Ambassador Jamal Awad, Advisor to the Minister for General Affairs, were present, contributing to the discussions on enhancing cooperation between the two nations.

This meeting marks a continued commitment to fostering strong international relationships and addressing the pressing humanitarian needs in Yemen.
