Prime Minister Discusses Yemen-UK Relations with British Minister

On Monday, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak engaged in a phone conversation with Hamish Falconer, the UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa. The two leaders focused on enhancing the bilateral relationship between Yemen and the United Kingdom across various sectors. They also highlighted the UK’s supportive role for both the Yemeni government and its citizens, emphasizing the commitment to achieving peace in the region.

Current Regional Challenges

During their discussion, the Prime Minister and Falconer reviewed recent developments affecting Yemen and the broader region. They addressed the urgent need to halt Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, noting the severe implications this conflict poses to regional and global security. Additionally, they condemned the ongoing terrorist attacks by Houthi militias on commercial vessels and international shipping lanes.

Commitment to Humanitarian Support

Prime Minister bin Mubarak praised the strong bilateral relations between Yemen and the UK. He expressed hope for increased British support for Yemen during these challenging times, particularly in response to the growing humanitarian and service commitments. The Prime Minister acknowledged the UK’s steadfast position alongside the Yemeni people, aiming to alleviate their humanitarian suffering and fulfill their aspirations for restoring state institutions, security, stability, and development.

UK’s Continued Support for Yemen

In response, Minister Falconer reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni government in its reform efforts and addressing humanitarian challenges. He stressed the importance of backing initiatives aimed at achieving peace and stability in Yemen.

This dialogue underscores the ongoing collaboration between Yemen and the UK, reflecting a shared commitment to addressing critical issues and fostering a secure and prosperous future for the Yemeni people.
