Yemeni Foreign Minister Meets UN Special Envoy to Discuss Ongoing Crisis

Manama, Bahrain – Dr. Shai’a Al-Zandani, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met today with Hans Grundberg, the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen. This meeting took place during the 21st session of the Regional Security Conference, known as the “Manama Dialogue.”

Current Situation in Yemen

During their discussion, both officials reviewed the latest developments in Yemen. They focused on the ongoing efforts by the UN and international community to support stability and enhance humanitarian work across various provinces.

Addressing Humanitarian Violations

Minister Al-Zandani highlighted the continuous violations committed by Houthi militias against UN personnel and humanitarian organizations. He called for the immediate and unconditional release of detained workers and emphasized the need to ensure the safety of humanitarian staff operating in the region.

Commitment to Humanitarian Efforts

Al-Zandani reaffirmed the Yemeni government’s full support for the UN’s initiatives and humanitarian organizations. He praised their role in alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in these efforts.

UN’s Ongoing Support

In response, the UN envoy reiterated the organization’s commitment to supporting all regional and international efforts aimed at resolving the Yemeni crisis. He stressed the necessity of resuming a comprehensive political process to address the ongoing challenges.

The meeting also included the presence of Dr. Ali Al-Ahmadi, Yemen’s Ambassador to Bahrain, and the Minister’s Special Advisor, Counselor Salem Ba’afi.

This dialogue underscores the urgent need for collaborative efforts to restore peace and stability in Yemen, as the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate.
