Yemen Signs Agreement to Promote Traditional Sports

Antalya, Turkey – A New Era for Traditional Sports

Today, the Republic of Yemen, represented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Ethnosport Federation in Antalya, Turkey. This agreement aims to enhance cooperation and develop traditional sports in Yemen. The signing took place during the 8th Traditional Sports Forum, organized under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Key Figures in Attendance

Yemen’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Nayef Al-Bakri, signed the MoU on behalf of Yemen. Bilal Rajab Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the International Ethnosport Federation, represented the federation. The event also saw the presence of Yemen’s Ambassador to Turkey, Mohammed Saleh Tareq, and Ayman Al-Makhlafi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports for Financial and Administrative Affairs.

Goals of the Memorandum

The MoU establishes a practical framework for collaboration between Yemen and the International Ethnosport Federation. It focuses on exchanging expertise, providing technical and advisory support, and leveraging international networks to promote traditional sports in Yemen.

Additionally, the agreement outlines plans to implement training programs for coaches and technicians, organize training camps, and host sports tournaments. These initiatives aim to foster the growth of traditional sports while preserving the cultural heritage associated with them.

Minister Al-Bakri’s Remarks

During the signing ceremony, Minister Al-Bakri expressed his gratitude for the International Ethnosport Federation’s commitment to supporting Yemen.
