In a significant meeting today, Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Shai Al-Zindani engaged with Hans Grundberg, the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, on the sidelines of the 20th Regional Security Forum (Manama Dialogue). They addressed the latest developments in Yemen’s complex situation.
Minister Al-Zindani emphasized the Yemeni government’s dedication to collaborating with regional and international initiatives aimed at ending the war and achieving lasting peace in Yemen. He highlighted the critical need for the international community to exert pressure on the Iran-backed Houthi militia. Al-Zindani condemned the militia’s ongoing violations against the Yemeni people and its escalation of tensions in the Red Sea, which poses a threat to maritime navigation, international trade, and regional security.
In response, the UN envoy outlined his ongoing efforts to de-escalate the conflict and promote peace in Yemen. Grundberg reaffirmed the importance of a comprehensive political process under the auspices of the United Nations to facilitate a resolution to the crisis.
The meeting also included Dr. Ali Al-Ahmadi, Yemen’s Ambassador to Bahrain, who participated in the discussions surrounding Yemen’s future.
This dialogue underscores the urgent need for international cooperation to address the ongoing challenges in Yemen, as all parties strive for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
