International Organization for Migration reports 22 Yemeni families displaced last week from various provinces due to security and economic issues.

International Organization for Migration Reports Displacement in Yemen

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) released its weekly report, revealing that 22 families, comprising 132 individuals, were displaced in Yemen from March 1 to March 7.

Displacement Origins and Destinations

The report indicates that the displacement originated from the governorates of Taiz, Marib, Dhamar, Ibb, and Al Hudaydah. The affected families have settled in Marib, Taiz, Hadramout, and Al Hudaydah.

Needs of Displaced Families

According to the IOM, 32% of the newly displaced families reported needing cash assistance. Additionally, 27% required shelter services, while 23% sought food aid. Notably, 9% of the families lacked means of livelihood.

Causes of Displacement

The report highlights that 64% of the total displacement cases last week—14 families—left their original areas due to economic factors related to the ongoing conflict. Meanwhile, 8 families, or 36%, fled due to safety and security concerns.

Cumulative Displacement Data

The IOM also noted the identification of three additional displaced families in Al Hudaydah, which were not included in the previous week’s report. These figures contribute to the cumulative total of 758 families, consisting of 4,548 individuals, displaced since the beginning of the year, as of March 7.

This ongoing situation underscores the urgent need for humanitarian assistance in Yemen, where families continue to face significant challenges due to conflict and economic instability.
