MUKALLA, Yemen – Today, Minister of Local Administration, Engineer Badr Basalama, inaugurated a discussion workshop titled “Development in Hadhramaut.” This event took place in Mukalla and was organized by the ministry in collaboration with the local authority of Hadhramaut Governorate.
The workshop brought together local authority leaders to explore four main topics. These included legislative aspects and powers, financial resources and sustainability, developmental and service implementation, and institutional communication and trust-building.
Participants highlighted significant challenges that local authority leaders encounter. They discussed both the causes and potential solutions, particularly issues related to overlapping responsibilities between central and local levels of governance.
Minister Basalama praised the crucial role that local authorities play in managing various sectors within the governorate. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to enhancing institutional partnerships and fostering effective collaborative relationships with local authorities. This approach aims to improve performance and boost the efficiency of government operations at the local level.
