Death Toll from Nepal Floods Rises to 626

Recent reports from Reuters indicate that the death toll from devastating floods and landslides in Nepal has reached 626. Rescue operations continue as authorities search for hundreds of missing persons in the border regions between Nepal and China. These areas have experienced severe flooding since August 26.

Ongoing Search for Missing Russian Pilgrims

For the fourth consecutive day, volunteer teams are actively searching for a group of Russian pilgrims. This group was en route to the Kailash region when they lost contact while approaching the border crossing between Nepal and China. Russian tourist Darina, who recently arrived in the capital city of Kathmandu, reported losing communication with one of her acquaintances in the group. She confirmed that volunteers have been searching for them for over three days.

Impact of Landslides and Flooding

Darina explained that the group consists of Russian pilgrims along with several local tour guides. Reports indicate that the Gyirong Pass area has suffered from severe landslides and flooding due to dangerously high water levels in the Bote Kosi river. This situation has resulted in widespread destruction and significant loss of life.

Conclusion

As rescue efforts continue, the situation remains critical in Nepal. The community and volunteers are working tirelessly to locate the missing individuals and provide assistance to those affected by this natural disaster. The ongoing challenges highlight the urgent need for support and resources in the region.
