The Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, praised the sacrifices of the armed forces and popular resistance in their fight against the Houthi militia, which is backed by the Iranian regime. He emphasized that the resilience of the province’s residents serves as a fundamental pillar in the battle to restore the state and its institutions. Additionally, he directed efforts to enhance institutional performance, activate essential services, and alleviate the suffering of citizens.
This statement came during a comprehensive meeting held by the governor today with local authority leaders, executive offices, and district directors. They discussed the latest developments in military, service, and humanitarian conditions amid the exceptional circumstances facing the province.
At the beginning of the meeting, the governor acknowledged the heroic stances of the armed forces and popular resistance. He appreciated their sacrifices in defending Taiz, the republic, and state institutions, while also honoring the souls of the martyrs and wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded.
Shamsan affirmed that the people of Taiz have demonstrated, through their historical struggle, that their will is stronger than attempts to subjugate them. He noted the worsening suffering of citizens due to years of war, siege, and deteriorating living and service conditions, along with the ongoing targeting of residential neighborhoods, resulting in civilian casualties.
He stressed the need to intensify efforts to protect the community, document violations, monitor the situation of the affected, and convey their suffering to relevant authorities and humanitarian and rights organizations. He asserted that the resilience of Taiz extends beyond facing war; it also includes maintaining state institutions and continuing to provide services to alleviate citizens’ hardships.
The governor called for raising the level of institutional performance and job discipline, enhancing coordination between the provincial leadership, executive offices, and districts. He urged the identification of priorities, addressing shortcomings, and holding accountable those who fall short according to the law.
He emphasized the importance of prioritizing sectors such as water, health, sanitation, education, electricity, and roads in the daily work of local authorities. Furthermore, he called for intensified market oversight to prevent monopolies and price manipulation, assessing the damage from shelling, monitoring the situation of the wounded, and ensuring that available assistance reaches those in need fairly and transparently.
Shamsan also highlighted the need to strengthen the presence of state institutions among citizens, listen to their complaints, and activate the media’s role in showcasing the resilience and sacrifices of the province’s residents. He noted ongoing efforts by local authorities to coordinate with the government, political leadership, and supporting organizations to meet service and living needs.
He urged for the integration of efforts, unification of ranks, and enhancement of community cohesion and internal front, prioritizing the public interest. He confirmed that limited resources require greater efficiency and innovation, transitioning from diagnosing problems to addressing them, and from scattered efforts to organized institutional work. This approach aims to enhance citizens’ trust in state institutions and ensure they fulfill their duties in serving and preserving their dignity.
For his part, the Deputy Governor for Services, Rashad Al-Akhali, confirmed the continuation of field visits and monitoring of traders. He indicated that the supply situation remains stable, with sufficient quantities of flour available, and there is no cause for panic. He added that communication with relevant authorities continues to secure fuel derivatives and essential materials.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor for Health, Dr. Ilan Abdul-Haq, noted the collaborative efforts to support hospitals by providing them with medical solutions, dialysis solutions, and necessary medications. She confirmed ongoing communication with relevant authorities to expedite the supply of essential items to hospitals amid the siege and increasing critical cases.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants emphasized the importance of steadfastness and continued support for the armed forces to carry out their duties. They also stressed the need to improve services, address citizens’ conditions, and meet their needs amid the current circumstances facing the province.
