President Rashad Alimi Meets with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi

On Tuesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab summit in Cairo.

Discussion Highlights

During their discussion, the leaders addressed the outcomes of the extraordinary summit. They also explored the bilateral relations between Yemen and Egypt, as well as regional issues of mutual concern. President Alimi congratulated President El-Sisi on the successful conclusion of the summit. He expressed Yemen’s appreciation for Egypt’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their right to establish an independent and sovereign state, in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Update on Yemen’s Situation

President Alimi briefed President El-Sisi on the latest developments in Yemen. He highlighted the ongoing economic and humanitarian crises exacerbated by attacks from Iranian-backed Houthi militias. This situation has significantly impacted the Yemeni population, leading to increased suffering.

Egypt’s Support for Yemen

In response, President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Yemen and its people. He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to Yemen’s stability and territorial integrity. Furthermore, he pledged to continue providing all forms of assistance to alleviate the humanitarian crisis and help Yemen achieve its aspirations for security, peace, and development.

Attendees of the Meeting

The meeting included key figures from both nations. Yemen’s delegation featured Foreign Minister Dr. Shaif Al-Zindani, Ambassador to Egypt Khaled Mahfouz Bahah, and Acting Permanent Representative to the Arab League Dr. Ali Mousa. On the Egyptian side, attendees included Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty, General Intelligence Chief Major General Hassan Rashad, and Presidential Office Director Counselor Omar Marwan.

This meeting underscores the strong ties between Yemen and Egypt and highlights their collaborative efforts to address pressing regional challenges.
