The Chairman of the Leadership Council meets with the Palestinian President to discuss national and regional developments.

 

Meeting Highlights Shared Concerns

On Sunday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, the head of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in New York. Accompanying Alimi were council members Aidroos Al-Zubaidi and Othman Mujalli. The leaders discussed significant developments affecting both nations and explored ways to coordinate their positions in various regional and international forums.

Focus on Humanitarian Aid and Occupation Crimes

During the meeting, the leaders emphasized the urgent need to halt Israeli occupation crimes and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. President Alimi reaffirmed Yemen’s unwavering support for Palestine, highlighting the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish an independent and fully sovereign state.

Yemen’s Commitment to Palestine Remains Strong

Alimi stressed that the Palestinian cause remains central to the Yemeni people and their political leadership, despite the severe challenges posed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias. This commitment underscores Yemen’s solidarity with Palestine amidst ongoing conflicts.

Strengthening Diplomatic Relations

The two presidents exchanged views on enhancing diplomatic relations between Yemen and Palestine. They also addressed several issues of mutual interest, aiming to foster closer ties and collaboration.

Attendees of the Meeting

The meeting included key figures such as Dr. Shaaib Al-Zindani, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Abdullah Al-Saadi, Yemen’s permanent representative to the United Nations. On the Palestinian side, Ziad Abu Amro, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, along with several advisors and the Palestinian Ambassador to the UN, Riyad Mansour, participated in the discussions.

This meeting marks a significant step in reinforcing the partnership between Yemen and Palestine, highlighting their shared goals and commitment to addressing pressing regional issues.
