Moscow Meeting Highlights Diplomatic Relations

Today, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed Arab ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Russian Federation at his residence in Moscow. This meeting underscores the importance of fostering strong diplomatic ties between Yemen and Arab nations.

Expressions of Gratitude and Goodwill

During the meeting, President Alimi expressed his pleasure at the gathering. He tasked the Arab ambassadors with conveying his greetings to fellow Arab leaders, wishing them health and happiness. This gesture reflects the President’s commitment to maintaining robust relationships within the Arab community.

Discussion on Recent Moscow Visit

President Alimi shared insights from his recent visit to Moscow, where he engaged in fruitful discussions with President Vladimir Putin and senior officials from the State Duma and the Russian government. He highlighted the political, diplomatic, and intellectual activities focused on Yemen’s situation, emphasizing the need for continued international attention.

Current Challenges in Yemen

The President briefed the Arab diplomats on the evolving situation in Yemen, detailing the economic, humanitarian, and living challenges inflicted by the Houthi militia’s actions. He pointed out the significant destruction of infrastructure and essential services, calling for increased Arab and international support to bolster the government’s efforts in addressing these pressing issues.

Unified Arab Support for Yemen

President Alimi expressed pride in the unified Arab stance supporting Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He emphasized the aspirations of the Yemeni people for peace, stability, and development, highlighting the critical role of Arab nations in this endeavor.

Acknowledgment of Saudi and UAE Contributions

The President acknowledged the leadership roles of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in strengthening Yemen’s state institutions. He praised their developmental and humanitarian interventions, which have alleviated the suffering of the Yemeni people over the past years. He stated, "Without this support, the government would struggle to meet its basic obligations, including paying employee salaries."

Commitment to Overcoming Adversity

In this context, President Alimi discussed the existential battle the Yemeni people have faced for over a decade against the Iranian-backed Houthi militia. He asserted that the Yemeni people are more determined than ever to end their suffering and dismantle this cross-border agenda.

Call for Change in Houthi Approach

The President reaffirmed his commitment to exhausting all efforts to persuade the Houthi militia to abandon its divisive ideology and respond to the popular will and international resolutions.

The meeting included key figures such as Dr. Shaaib Al-Zandani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and advisors to the President on defense, security, development, and cultural affairs, alongside Yemen’s Ambassador to Russia, Ahmed Salem Al-Wahishi. Their presence underscores the collaborative efforts to address Yemen’s challenges on both domestic and international fronts.
