On Wednesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, visited the Lusail Palace to express his condolences to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, following the passing of the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Upon arrival, President Alimi and his accompanying delegation received a warm welcome from Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, along with several dignitaries. Notable attendees included Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, the Deputy Emir of Qatar, and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir’s personal representative. Other prominent figures included Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani, Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
President Alimi was accompanied by a high-level delegation that featured Major General Mahmoud Al-Sabahi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Sheikh Sultan Al-Barakani, the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Additional members included Akram Al-Amri, Deputy Head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Committee, and parliament members Abdulwahab Maawda and Insaf Mayo.
During the visit, President Alimi conveyed heartfelt condolences from the Yemeni government and people to Sheikh Tamim and the Al Thani family, as well as the Qatari nation. He prayed for the deceased’s eternal peace and for the bereaved to find solace during this difficult time.
President Alimi praised the late Emir’s national and humanitarian virtues, highlighting his significant contributions to Qatar’s development and its regional and international standing. He also acknowledged the late Emir’s unwavering support for the Yemeni people and their leadership during various challenges.
In response, Sheikh Tamim expressed his sincere gratitude to President Alimi and his delegation for their heartfelt condolences and solidarity during this painful loss.
After the condolence visit, President Alimi departed from Doha. He received a warm farewell from Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, the Qatari Minister of Transport, and Rajeh Badi, the Yemeni Ambassador to Qatar.
This visit underscores the strong ties between Yemen and Qatar, reflecting mutual respect and support during times of grief.
