The Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Ahmed Ahmed Ghaleb, has issued decision number (10) for the year 2026. This decision suspends the license granted to the money transfer agent “Bin Dabi” in the Haban district of Shabwa province and mandates the immediate closure of its office. This action aligns with the Central Bank’s efforts to regulate the financial market and enhance compliance with banking laws.
The decision stems from serious violations documented in a field report submitted by the Banking Supervision Sector. The report identified practices that contravene banking regulations and the rules governing money transfer agents. These violations necessitate swift action to protect consumers and ensure the stability of the financial system.
The Central Bank emphasizes that this measure is part of a comprehensive campaign aimed at regulating the money transfer market and enhancing adherence to legal and regulatory standards. Such initiatives are crucial for safeguarding beneficiaries from any misconduct that could jeopardize financial stability. Strengthening banking oversight fosters greater trust among citizens and investors in Yemen’s financial system.
Through these actions, the Central Bank aims to improve the banking environment and promote transparency. The bank plans to implement additional measures to prevent the recurrence of such violations in the future. Ongoing efforts will focus on reinforcing the laws and regulations governing the banking sector to ensure the protection of all stakeholders involved.
