The Yemeni Armed Forces successfully thwarted two simultaneous and extensive attacks launched by Houthi militias on military sites in the southern and western regions of Marib on Saturday. This escalation targets the defense lines in the area.
Military sources reported to Al Arabiya that the army in the third military region managed to foil a Houthi offensive attempt in the Mashajeh and Al-Zour fronts in the western sector. This occurred alongside the thwarting of another attack targeting the Al-Layrif front in the southern part of the governorate.
The sources clarified that the militia relied on successive waves to infiltrate through the route connecting Marib and Al-Bayda. They also used camouflaged civilian vehicles to surprise advanced security checkpoints.
The sources confirmed that the defensive tenacity of government forces, supported by drone strikes and artillery, resulted in the elimination of approximately 80% of the Houthi elements involved in the attack. The militia suffered substantial losses in both equipment and personnel.
Last Wednesday, the armed forces announced the launch of a military operation in the southern fronts of Marib after precise intelligence monitoring of militia movements. During this operation, they managed to seize sites previously occupied by the militia and imposed a tight fire cordon on their supply lines.
On the same day, the armed forces repelled a fierce Houthi assault on the Mashajeh front in western Marib, inflicting significant losses on the militia.
