Dr. Waed Badhib Engages with Telecommunications Leadership

Dr. Waed Badhib, the Acting Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and the appointed Minister of Communications and Information Technology, recently assessed the operations and performance of the Public Telecommunications Corporation. He discussed the organization’s development needs for the upcoming phase during a meeting in the temporary capital, Aden.

Addressing Current Challenges

During the meeting, Minister Badhib highlighted the challenges facing the corporation amid current conditions and rapid technological changes. He emphasized that the ministry is committed to leveraging technical and professional resources to support comprehensive digital transformation. This initiative aims to meet the needs of citizens and various sectors, aligning with sustainable development goals and government strategies for advancing the telecommunications and information technology sector.

Launch of Starlink Services

The Minister praised the launch of Starlink satellite internet service points and devices. He commended the efforts of the corporation’s leadership and technical teams that contributed to this achievement. Badhib stressed the importance of monitoring project implementation and conducting regular evaluations to enhance service quality and institutional performance. He directed the corporation’s leadership to submit periodic reports on performance levels in each department, including details on Starlink service packages and the readiness of technical teams to meet subscriber needs.

Commitment to Modernization

Engineer Wael Tarmoom, the CEO of the Public Telecommunications Corporation, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to keeping pace with modern developments in telecommunications. He noted ongoing coordination with the ministry to establish developmental plans for the near future.

Focus on Future Projects

In a separate engagement, Dr. Badhib inspected the activities of Yemen International Telecommunications Company (TeleYemen). During his meeting with the company’s leadership and staff, including CEO Abdul Salam Al-Salafi, he discussed future projects and development plans aimed at improving telecommunications service quality and expanding digital coverage across various regions of Yemen.

Upcoming Initiatives

The meeting also addressed several upcoming initiatives that the ministry plans to implement in collaboration with TeleYemen. These initiatives include digital infrastructure projects and expanding satellite internet services to meet local market needs and enhance Yemen’s position in the regional telecommunications sector.
