Taiz Governor opens a university water pumping station project and launches an automated issuance center.

Today, the Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, inaugurated the University Water Pump Station project. This station is designed to pump water to the province’s reservoirs with a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters. It is powered by a solar energy system with a capacity of 180 kilovolts.

Project Details and Benefits

Following the launch, Governor Shamsan, accompanied by the Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Yemen, Abdul Sattar Aisouif, received a detailed briefing from IOM’s Project Manager, Abdul Majidi Al-Kaldi. The project includes an industrial well with a submersible pump, a solar energy system comprising 272 solar panels with a capacity of 180 kV, a remote monitoring system, an automatic chlorination unit, and the installation of 2,000 water meters. Additionally, 40 trainees have been educated on the operation and maintenance of the project, which supplies 1,000 cubic meters of water to the Water Corporation’s reservoirs, benefiting 60,000 citizens.

Governor’s Commendation and Continued Efforts

Governor Shamsan praised the sustainable development projects by the International Organization for Migration, which address essential citizen needs. He emphasized the priority of water access and noted that the institution has rehabilitated and repaired water supply networks to main reservoirs and residential areas, which had been disrupted since the onset of the war. Efforts continue to enhance water delivery from main fields in collaboration with international organizations.

Launch of the Smart Card Issuance Center

In addition, Governor Shamsan inaugurated the Smart Card Issuance Center in the Al-Mudhaffar district. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, Colonel Anis Al-Shamiri, and Director of the Civil Status Branch, Major Esnkader Al-Makhlafi.

Enhancing Civil Services

During the inauguration, Governor Shamsan and Al-Mudhaffar District Director, Mohammed Al-Kadhi, inspected the technical and technological preparations of the center for both men and women. The Director of Civil Status explained how the center aims to alleviate congestion at the main center and plans to open new centers in the future. Governor Shamsan highlighted the center’s role in facilitating the issuance of electronic cards with modern tools and quality services. He stressed the importance of expanding civil status services to ease access for citizens and underscored the significance of civil status in security and statistical fields, serving as a primary information source. He encouraged citizens to obtain smart cards, especially with the directives linking employee salaries to these cards.

Inspection of Sewage Project in Al-Hasab

Subsequently, Governor Shamsan inspected the sewage project in the Al-Hasab area of Al-Mudhaffar District, accompanied by the General Director of the Technical Department, Engineer Bashir Al-Alimi. He received an update from the Director of the Water and Sewage Corporation, Engineer Samir Abdul Wahid, about the project’s 1,200-meter length. It serves 10,000 residents with technical and engineering specifications that meet the needs of the area and surrounding neighborhoods, supported by Oxfam.

Meeting on Women’s Health and Youth Development

Later, Governor Shamsan met with Zainab Al-Qaisi, Director of the Women and Youth Department at the Ministry of Health. They discussed enhancing women’s health aspects and focusing on sustainable projects and youth development through establishing technical institutes to equip them with market-relevant skills.

Coordination with International Organizations

The meeting also addressed the importance of coordinating with active international organizations and specialized offices to identify needs for improving the health sector’s efficiency in the province.
