Taiz Hosts Festivities for National Holidays

Taiz, Yemen – The city of Taiz came alive today with vibrant festivities celebrating the 62nd anniversary of the September 26 Revolution and the 61st anniversary of the October 14 Revolution. This event brought together residents and visitors to honor the spirit of Yemen’s national revolutions.

Governor Welcomes Guests and Emphasizes Unity

During the celebrations, Governor Shamshan warmly welcomed attendees, highlighting the significance of the occasion for all Yemenis. He stated, “The people of this province, in the city, villages, and districts, celebrate this day to affirm that this land is ours and this revolution is ours. We were born free, and we recognize no authority but that of the people. We will follow the path of our ancestors, whose blood nourished our plains and mountains.”

Historical Significance of Taiz

Governor Shamshan further emphasized Taiz’s pivotal role as a cradle of revolutions and a land of liberation. He remarked, “In Taiz, brave revolutionaries planned and financed efforts to defeat the oppressive imamate and eliminate ignorance, injustice, and the persistent clerical backwardness plaguing our nation. Our revolution will remain eternal, and the republic will return. Together, we will triumph over the new imamate through the struggle of all honorable and free individuals.”

Notable Attendees and Cultural Performances

The celebration featured a significant turnout, including Minister of Endowments and Guidance Dr. Mohammed Shabib, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports for Women’s Affairs Nadia Abdullah, military and security leaders, political parties, and numerous organizations. The event showcased a colorful carnival with performances by local schools, universities, and community groups, accompanied by the singing of national anthems.

Tribute to Martyrs

Following the festivities, Governor Shamshan visited the Martyrs’ Cemetery, where he paid his respects and recited prayers for the fallen heroes. He was joined by Minister Shabib, First Deputy Governor Dr. Abdulqawi Al-Makhlafi, and the Governor’s Deputy for Defense and Security Affairs, Major General Abdul Karim Al-Sabri.

Honoring Revolutionary Poet

Additionally, Governor Shamshan made a significant visit to the home of revolutionary poet Abdullah Abdulwahab Naaman. He described this visit as a powerful tribute to the poet’s connection to the revolution and the struggle, as Naaman’s verses continue to resonate during national holidays and events.

These celebrations not only commemorate Yemen’s historical revolutions but also reinforce the collective spirit of resilience and hope among its people.
