President Rashad Alimi Meets UAE Foreign Minister Amid UN General Assembly

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

On Wednesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, welcomed Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister. The meeting took place during the ongoing sessions of the United Nations General Assembly, which commenced on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the greetings of his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. He expressed wishes for President Alimi’s good health and happiness, as well as for the Yemeni people’s security, stability, and peace.

Exchanging Greetings and Aspirations

In response, President Alimi extended his greetings to the UAE leadership and conveyed the council’s best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the Emirati people under their wise leadership.

The discussions focused on the strong bilateral relations between Yemen and the UAE, highlighting promising opportunities to enhance collaboration across various sectors. The two leaders exchanged views on regional issues and developments, emphasizing their commitment to coordinate efforts in addressing current challenges at all levels.

Appreciating UAE’s Support

President Alimi praised the distinguished relationship between Yemen and the UAE. He acknowledged the UAE’s significant role in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, as well as its developmental and humanitarian initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people. He reaffirmed the UAE’s contributions to restoring state institutions and fostering development and peace in Yemen.

Furthermore, President Alimi briefed the UAE Foreign Minister on the latest developments in Yemen, discussing opportunities for achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the agreed-upon national, regional, and international references.

The meeting also included Dr. Shaea Al-Zandani, Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Abdullah Al-Saadi, and Yemen’s Ambassador to the United States, Mohammed Al-Hadrami.

This meeting underscores the ongoing commitment of both nations to strengthen their partnership and address the pressing challenges facing the region.
