Security chaos in Ibb: casualties reported as gang violence escalates, targeting properties and leaving many injured.

Rising Security Chaos in Ibb Province

The security situation in Ibb Province, under the control of the Houthi militia, continues to deteriorate. Daily incidents of violence leave behind casualties and injuries, yet the militia authorities remain inactive in restoring order. The province has increasingly become a focal point in media reports concerning criminal activities.

Recent Violent Incidents

Since the beginning of this month, sources indicate that Ibb Province has witnessed over 16 cases of murder and injury. Most of these incidents stem from family disputes and land conflicts, which flood Houthi courts without resolution.

In a series of recent events, two individuals were killed, and another was injured in three separate incidents. These occurred in the districts of Al-Sabrah (southeast), Al-Dhahir, and Al-Mashanah, the center of the province.

Local sources reported the tragic death of a child, Sulaiman Saeed Abdu Al-Sumaihi, who was shot by an armed man in the village of Hajar, with no clear motive established.

In the Al-Dhahir district, authorities discovered the body of Amin Mohammed Malhi Al-Maramid inside his home in the Al-Sabil neighborhood. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, with conflicting reports suggesting he may have been stabbed or strangled.

In the Old City of Al-Mashanah, a man named Mohammed Samara sustained serious chest injuries after accidentally being shot by a friend during a mishap involving a firearm.

Additionally, in a non-criminal incident, local sources revealed that a woman, a mother of three, consumed a toxic substance in the village of Hadhar in the Al-Bahriyin district of Rural Ibb, leading to her death. The motives behind this tragic event remain unknown.

Armed Gangs and Property Damage

The security chaos in Ibb has taken on new forms, as armed gangs increasingly disrupt public peace. These groups fire upon homes and properties, all while the Houthi authorities remain silent and seemingly complicit.

Local sources reported that an armed gang, known to Houthi security forces, opened fire on citizens’ homes and properties in Wadi Al-Jannat in the Al-Suhul area, north of the city of Ibb.

The gang targeted the home of citizen Darham Abdu Abdullah Al-Baz and set fire to the vehicle of Abdu Al-Bala. Furthermore, the gang returned to fire upon two additional vehicles in the same area, causing significant damage.

This incident followed the arson of a vehicle belonging to Lyth Al-Batul, the son of the late historian and writer Abdul Fattah Al-Batul, which was parked near his home in the Al-Safani area west of the city.

Just three days prior, unknown individuals torched the vehicle of Dr. Jamal Abdul Malik Al-Asali in the city of Yarim, located in the northern part of the province.

Over the past months and years, the phenomenon of vehicle arson has notably escalated across various districts in the province, reflecting the rampant security chaos and widespread crime.

The ongoing security turmoil in Ibb Province raises grave concerns for residents. As violence escalates and armed gangs operate with impunity, the need for effective intervention and restoration of order becomes increasingly urgent. The local community continues to call for accountability and action from the Houthi authorities to address this alarming situation.
